Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Rakh Jaganoo District Udhampur was established in October 1986. In accordance with the National Policy of Education 1986 Govt. of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the country . It was decided to open at least one J.N.V in each District of India to provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas.At present, there are 598 (576+22) Vidyalayas sanctioned in the country out of which 588 (570+18) are functioning. These are co-educational residential Vidyalayas fully financed and administered by Govt. of India through an autonomous organization, i.e Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti . Admissions in JNVs are made through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya selection test at class 6th every year. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or Regional language up to class 8th and English thereafter for Maths & Science and Hindi for Social Science Students of JNVs appear for X and XII class examinations of C.B.S.E. while education in the Vidyalayas is free including boarding, lodging, uniforms, Textbooks & Stationery items. A nominal fee of Rs. 200/- per month will have to be paid by the children from class IX to XII. However, children belonging to SC/ST, Girls and Physically Handicapped and from the families whose income is below the poverty line are exempted from payment of fees.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Rakh Jaganoo District Udhampur (J&K) is a source of Constant change , motivation and up gradation in all aspects of a co- educational residential set up. JNV Rakh Jaganoo is situated in a dense forest area in the area of 220.14 kanals at a distance of 12KM from Distt. Head quarters near the historical village Jaganoo. It is having hot and cold climate Two streams i.e Science and Commerce have been allotted to this Vidyalaya .At present 506 students and the students of XII class of JNV Kargil under temporary migration are studying in this Vidyalaya under the supervision and guidance of dynamic staff. we believe in innovative technique in education, effective arrangements in academics with co- curricular and extracurricular activities. We have always tried our best to instill a healthy competitive spirit in our students, we are committed to build a congenial atmosphere in the JNV and nurture educational values, promote freedom of thought, instruction and creativity which are essential for academic excellence. Our campus provides disciplined peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The JNV is having science labs, computer labs, library, smart class, playgrounds, Music room, Art room, workshop, NCC& scout & guide. To promote national integration we have migration policy, under it. The migration of this JNV is linked with JNV Badaun and JNV Lalitpur (UP).
